You'll also learn about client consultation, hygiene and sanitation, product knowledge, and the business aspects of managing a barbershop, including marketing and customer service. The curriculum combines classroom-based theory on topics like hair anatomy and safety with hands-on practice on mannequins and models to build your skills and confidence. Technical Skills You'll Learn Haircutting: Mastering various cutting styles and techniques using clippers, shears, and razors, understanding concepts like head shape, hair texture, and sectioning. Hair Styling: Learning to use styling products, blow dryers, and brushes to achieve different looks and finishes. Shaving and Beard Grooming: Gaining proficiency in straight-razor shaves, beard trims, and overall facial hair maintenance. Chemical Treatments: Understanding the basics of hair coloring, perming, and relaxing. Skincare: Learning to perform facials, shampoos, conditioning treatments, and scalp massages. Classroom & Theoretical Learning Anatomy & Physiology: Studying the structure of the head, neck, and face, as well as the science behind hair and scalp conditions. Hygiene & Sanitation: Understanding and implementing procedures for maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Barber Chemistry: Learning about the properties and safe use of various cosmetic products, such as shampoos, conditioners, and chemical treatments. Product Knowledge: Acquiring knowledge of different hair and grooming products and their applications. Hands-On Practice Mannequin Practice: You'll start by practicing techniques on mannequins to develop muscle memory and confidence with tools like combs and scissors. Live Model Practice: As you progress, you'll work on live models under instructor supervision to refine your skills on actual clients.
